Dance of the Kabui people

Kabui tribe inhabiting the western hills-lopes of Manipur, have a rich tradition of dance and music, and are well-known for their exquisite costumes. During the Gang-Ngai festival, the Kabuis perform series of dance in several specialized forms in accompaniment of sound of heavy drum beats and high pitched songs. The boy dancers yield sharp weapons called dao in their hands and move around in circles along with the girl dancers dressed in colourful attractive costumes.
