Andhra Pradesh is one among the 28 states of India situated in the south east part of the country. This state was formed in the year 1956 and was divided in to two states in the year 2014 when its western districts were carved out from it as a new state named Telangana. Presently Hyderabad is the capital but Andhra is developing a new capital city named Amravati. 

The state touches Telangana, Tamilnadu, Odisha, Chhattisgarh states on its borders. The total area of Andhra is 160205 square kilometers and the population is 49386799 as per 2011 Census. It is the 10th most populous state in India, and it is also the 7th largest economy among the states in the country. The main economic activities in the state are agriculture and livestock. Nearly two third of the state population is engaged in agriculture cultivating rice, pulses, oil seeds, tobacco, mango, sugar cane, cotton, chilli etc. Poultry has given a unique recognition to this state for egg production. It is the largest egg producer in country for which it is called egg bowl of Asia. 

Tirupati, the most visited pilgrim centre in India is situated in this state. Andhra has several archaeological and historical places in the state and similarly it is also the home of several performing and creative art traditions. There are 34 tribal communities in this state which are nearly 5 percent of the state population. Tribalfest 2019 has invited Andhra Pradesh for participation in the event, and it is expected that representation of a tribal dance form from this state would introduce introduce the people with the rich tribal cultural heritage of Andhra.
